This article handles the basics of recursive relations.

Recursive relations are used to make it possible to create breakdowns. Examples of breakdowns are a System Breakdown Structure (SBS), Functional Breakdown Structure (FBS) and a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). All of which are commonly used information structures within Systems Engineering. The basic principle is that a node can be related to itself. Please watch the below recording for an explanation.
