Description
Read this article in case you want to assign node ownership to users. The connection between nodes and roles enables you to assign ownership of information to users. Consequently it gives users insight into the information which is relevant to them.
As an example, suppose we assign the role "requirement engineer" as being able to own "requirement nodes" in the blueprint as shown below:
Ultimately, this means that projects that are based on this blueprint, can assign users that have the role requirement engineer to requirement nodes in any overview, detail view or detail panel as shown in the example below:
Step-by-step explanation
Step 1: Setup your project team and create project roles
When a project team with project roles has been created in the blueprint, you can determine per node whether and, if so, which of those project roles can be assigned to the owner. The roles act as a filter for the ownership of information per node. Go to the detail page of the node in the blueprint editor and assign roles to nodes.
Step 2: Update your project to the new version of the blueprint
In terms of visualization, the detail page of the node in the project gets a default selection dropdown where one can select users who have the role that you said in the blueprint can own:
Next to that, all overviews and detail views that present that node are updated with an ownership column in which they can assign an owner as shown in the image at the top of this article. Filtering and sorting works just as on any other column, so you can narrow down the results in a view based on a specific user.
When your remove node ownership from the blueprint and update the project accordingly, node owners are removed and overviews, detail views and detail panels are updated accordingly by having the ownership column and -dropdown removed.
Step 3: Assign project roles to users to unlock node ownership settings in your project
Last step is to assign project roles to users so that they will appear in the dropdown. If users already have this project role assigned, they automatically appear in the ownership dropdown list.
When you invite and assign new users to a role, they are immediately available to assign to nodes. When you remove a user's role, they also immediately disappear in the dropdown.
