Description

Read this article in case you want to import an Excel sheet containing a set fields in which contains hierarchy supported through the decomposable relation. By way of example, a 'requirement breakdown structure'.

To import these columns and so your spreadsheet in levvr you need to create an import mapping. It basically comes down to mapping your columns in Excel on your levvr Blueprint.

Step-by-step explanation

  1. Decide on what information you would like to import and structure your Excel sheet. First time? Read this article first on how to setup an import mapping.

  2. Take into consideration the left-right principle when you structure your Excel sheet. Since the dominant relation can only be selected to the right, decomposable relations should start from to child to parent to parent. Therefore, make sure to structure the columns in your spreadsheet accordingly before you upload it:

  3. Now we start setting up your import mapping. When you arrive at the 'map columns' step, select a 'new node mapping' whenever you go one level up in your hierarchy. This way, you can map more than one column on the same field which helps levvr to interpret that there are 2 columns that contain requirements. From there on, in the relationships step, it can find the decomposable relationship which can then be selected!

  4. Done? Follow the regular instructions and import your data.
